01Is it waterproof, or water-resistant?

Waterproof. The distinction is not marketing: water-resistant fabrics have no stated water column and no sealed seams. This one holds a column between ten and fifteen thousand millimetres and every seam is taped. Those two facts together are what the word is supposed to mean.

02What does 15,000 mm actually describe?

A tube of water fifteen metres tall stood on the fabric. The number is the height the column reaches before the first drop comes through. It is a laboratory measure of pressure, which is the thing that defeats jackets in real life.

03Will I overheat in it?

It is a single lined shell at 770 grams, not a padded coat, so on a mild day it goes over a T-shirt and on a cold one over a jumper. It packs into a bag when the sky clears. The lining is fixed: this is one jacket, not a 3-in-1. We have not published a breathability figure because we do not have one in writing, and we are not going to invent it.

04How does it fit?

It is cut on an Asian grade, so the letter on the label runs differently from Irish sizing. Use the size advisor on the product page: it works from your height and weight, with the maker’s full chart in centimetres just below it. On a boundary, take the larger.

05Can I wash it?

Yes, and you should, more often than feels necessary. Technical wash, warm, gentle cycle, no fabric conditioner, rinse twice.

06How long will delivery take?

Dispatched within one to three working days, then seven to eleven days to anywhere in Ireland. Delivery is included in the price. If that is too slow for what you need it for, buy something else and we will not be offended.

07Will I be charged anything on delivery?

No. Import VAT and customs duty are paid by us before the parcel leaves Asia, so the courier has nothing to collect. This is why we ask you to order one jacket at a time: two in one parcel cross the European threshold and the charges come back.

08What if it does not fit?

Thirty days from delivery to return it, for any reason, which is longer than the fourteen days EU law requires. It needs to be unused and in its original condition. Write to us before posting anything and we will tell you where it goes. Return postage is yours, unless the jacket is faulty.

Colours may appear slightly different depending on your screen. Product measurements may also vary slightly.

All products are subject to availability. If an item becomes unavailable after you place an order, we will contact you and provide a full refund.

4. Prices and Payment

All prices are displayed in euro (EUR).

The total price shown at checkout is the final price you pay.

Our prices cover all applicable import VAT, customs duties and carrier handling charges. These costs are our responsibility and will not be charged separately to you upon delivery.

Shipping within Ireland is free. There are no additional standard delivery charges.

If a delivery company unexpectedly requests payment of import charges, please contact us at info@balmout.shop before making any payment. We will investigate and resolve any charges for which we are responsible.

Payment is collected securely when you place your order.

If an obvious pricing error occurs, we will contact you before dispatch. You may accept the corrected price or cancel your order for a full refund.

5. Orders and Contract Formation

After placing an order, you will receive an order confirmation email.

Your order represents an offer to purchase the selected products. The purchase contract is formed when we confirm that your order has been dispatched, unless we have expressly accepted your order earlier.

If we cannot fulfil your order, we will notify you and refund any payment collected.

6. Shipping and Delivery

We currently deliver to Ireland only.

All orders are shipped free of charge.

Our estimated processing and delivery times are explained in our Shipping Policy, available on our website.

Delivery estimates are provided in good faith. Occasionally, delays may occur due to transport disruptions, customs inspections, severe weather or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

If a delivery is delayed or an order does not arrive, please contact us so we can investigate and arrange the appropriate solution.

Your rights under applicable Irish consumer law, including your rights relating to late delivery and non-delivery, remain unaffected.

7. Returns, Cancellations and Refunds

We offer an additional 30-day return policy for eligible change-of-mind purchases, starting from the day your order is delivered.

You also have a statutory right to cancel most online purchases within 14 days of receiving the goods, without providing a reason, subject to applicable legal exceptions.

Our additional 30-day return policy does not replace or restrict that statutory right.

For change-of-mind returns, customers are responsible for the direct cost of return shipping, as explained in our Return and Refund Policy.

If your product is faulty, damaged, incorrect or does not conform to the contract, we will provide the remedies required by applicable consumer law.

Shipping policy

Where We Ship

Balmout currently ships to Ireland only.

If your delivery address is outside Ireland, we are unable to accept your order.

Shipping Costs

Delivery is free on every order.

There is no minimum spend and no additional standard delivery charge at checkout.

Processing and Delivery Times

We prepare orders within 1–3 business days.

Once dispatched, delivery normally takes an additional 7–11 business days.

The estimated total delivery timeframe is therefore 8-14 business days from the date of your order.

Orders travel through our international shipping partners. Final delivery in Ireland may be completed by An Post or another local delivery partner, depending on the shipment.

Business days exclude weekends and applicable public holidays.

These are estimated delivery times and may vary due to circumstances outside our control.

We aim to deliver within 30 calendar days of your order unless a different delivery date has been expressly agreed.

Your statutory rights in the event of late or non-delivery remain unaffected.

Tracking Your Order

Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a tracking number by email.

Tracking information may take a few days to become available or begin updating.

Where Your Order Ships From

Our products are dispatched from our suppliers' international warehouses, currently located outside the European Union.

This international fulfilment process is reflected in our estimated delivery times.

Taxes and Import Duties

The price you see at checkout is the price you pay.

All applicable import taxes, customs duties and carrier handling charges are included in the price paid to Balmout.

You should not need to pay additional import charges when your parcel arrives.

If a carrier contacts you requesting an unexpected payment before delivery, please do not pay it immediately.

Contact info@balmout.shop with your tracking number and a copy or photograph of the payment request so we can investigate and arrange payment of any charges for which we are responsible.

Delays and Lost Parcels

Customs procedures, transport disruptions, severe weather and other circumstances may occasionally affect delivery times.

If your order has not arrived within the estimated delivery period, please contact info@balmout.shop so we can investigate with the delivery provider.

If we cannot deliver within the agreed or legally applicable timeframe, you have the rights and remedies provided by Irish consumer law, including cancellation and a full refund where applicable.

Where appropriate, we may also offer a replacement shipment if you prefer.

You will not be required to pay additional delivery or import charges for a replacement sent to resolve a lost shipment.

Incorrect Delivery Address

We will try to correct the address before dispatch, although changes may not always be possible once a parcel has entered the delivery network.

Refund policy

At Balmout, we want you to feel comfortable with your purchase. If something isn't quite right, we're here to help.

30-Day Returns

We offer a 30-day return policy for change-of-mind purchases.

If you are not completely happy with your Balmout jacket, you can contact us at info@balmout.shop within 30 days of receiving your order to request a return.

For returns under our additional 30-day policy, beyond your statutory cancellation rights, items must be unused, in their original condition and, where reasonably possible, in their original packaging.

Please include your order number and the reason for your return so we can assist you. We may request photographs to help assess the condition of the item and make the process easier.

This additional policy does not limit your statutory consumer rights.

Return Shipping Costs

Customers are responsible for all direct return shipping costs when returning an item because they have changed their mind, selected the wrong size or colour, or no longer wish to keep it.

This applies regardless of the return destination.

Our return address is located in Portugal. Please contact us before posting your parcel so that we can provide the correct return address and instructions.

Return shipping costs depend on the parcel's dimensions, weight and the delivery service selected. We recommend checking the cost with your chosen carrier before sending the item.

We recommend using a tracked postal service and retaining your proof of postage.

We do not charge a restocking fee.

Return shipping costs for faulty, damaged, incorrect or non-conforming products are handled separately, in accordance with your statutory consumer rights.

Your Legal Right to Cancel

If you are a consumer in Ireland, you generally have the legal right to cancel an online purchase without giving any reason within 14 days after receiving the goods.

Where an order is delivered in separate parcels, this period generally begins when the final item is received.

To exercise this right, email info@balmout.shop with a clear statement that you wish to cancel your purchase. You may use the cancellation form below, but you are not required to do so.

You do not need to explain your decision or obtain our approval before exercising your statutory cancellation right.

If we require the goods to be returned, you must send them back without undue delay and no later than 14 days after notifying us of your cancellation.

For change-of-mind cancellations, you are responsible for the direct return shipping costs, as explained above.

You may examine the item as reasonably necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning. If the item has been handled beyond what is reasonably necessary, you may be responsible for any resulting reduction in value, in accordance with applicable law.

How to Return an Item

To arrange a return:

Tell us which item you wish to return. Photographs may be helpful, particularly if there is an issue with the item.
We will promptly provide the relevant return address in Portugal and practical shipping instructions.
Package the item carefully and send it using your chosen postal or courier service.
Keep your proof of postage until your refund has been completed.

For returns under our additional 30-day policy, please send your parcel within 14 days of receiving our return instructions.

Our return procedure does not restrict or delay your statutory cancellation rights.

Refunds

For cancellations made within your statutory 14-day cancellation period, we will refund the payments due, including any standard delivery charges originally paid, without undue delay and within the legally required timeframe.

Where we have not offered to collect the goods, we may withhold the refund until we receive the returned goods or you provide evidence that you have sent them back, whichever occurs first.

For eligible returns under our additional 30-day policy, refunds will normally be processed within 14 days after we receive and assess the returned item.

Refunds are issued to the original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise.

We do not charge a refund processing fee.

Original change-of-mind return postage paid to your chosen carrier is not reimbursed.

Exchanges and Alternative Products

If you would prefer a different Balmout size or colour, please contact us.

Where possible, we may offer an alternative purchase arrangement at a special price, which may allow you to keep your original jacket without returning it.

Such offers are optional, subject to availability and assessed individually. They do not affect your statutory right to cancel or obtain a refund.

Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Items

If your jacket arrives faulty, damaged, or different from what you ordered, please contact info@balmout.shop.

Include your order number and, where possible, photographs showing the issue.

We will assess the matter promptly and provide the appropriate remedy in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2022 and other applicable consumer protection laws.

Depending on the circumstances, you may be entitled to a refund, repair, replacement or price reduction.

Where you are legally entitled to return a faulty, damaged, incorrect or non-conforming item, we will cover the applicable return costs.

Your statutory rights are not restricted by our 30-day change-of-mind return policy.

Returns Without Sending the Item Back

In certain circumstances, Balmout may decide that a physical return is unnecessary.

If we authorise this arrangement, we will confirm it to you in writing.

This is assessed individually and is not an automatic entitlement under our additional returns policy. It does not limit any statutory rights.
